Happy New Year from Osaka, Japan!

New Year is very important for Japanese. New Year is not just for New Year’s Day, but it lasts for 7 days. People usually go to shrine to worship and wish for happiness on the 1st, the 2nd, and the 3rd of January. These three days are called “Shogatsu San ga nichi”.

I visited Todorokihime Mikoto Shrine. It is a long name, so nobody calls this name. People call it “Wakamatsu Shrine”. Short, isn’t it?

I went there because I live in kind of “parish” of Wakamatsu Shrine.

Wash hands here.

2011 is the Year of the Rabbit.

Until the beginning of Meiji Era, this shrine had been a part of Sumiyoshi Grand Shrine.

Susanoo no Mikoto and Kushinadahime are enshrined and both are in Japanese mythology and history books, “Kojiki” and “Nihon Shoki”. However, the origin of this shrine is unknown. It could be very very old, old as 2000 years. But it is unknown.

It is true many people are unconcerned about the history, but many people realize there is some kind of energy in the trees in this shrine. You see people touch the tree.

The secret tree is this. You may get energy from the earth if you touch it.
